The fourth largest island in the Ionian, Lefkas
has around 22,000 inhabitants, is 34 km long and 15km
wide, with
amazing landscape; beautiful white sandy
beaches, hills covered with
olive trees, cypresses and
pine, small traditional hidden villages
and friendly
people. It is no surprise that Lefkas attracts hundreds
of yacht owners and charters alike potentially looking
to buy or
sell yachts in Greece.
Joined to the mainland by a narrow isthumus until the
occupying
Corinthians dug a canal around the 7th
century BC, its 25m strait is
spanned from the
mainland by a causeway with lifting bridge. This
provides easy yacht access to the excellent marina
and on
through
the Lefkas canal to superb yacht cruising
grounds, Lefkada's ten
satellite islets (Meganisi, Kalamos, Kastos, Madouri, Skorpios,
Skorpidi, Sparti, Thilia, Petalou and Kythros ), the Southern Ionian
Islands, and beyond. Wonderful sailing with ideal yacht havens.
Lefkas town is the island's capital and primarily a yacht port with
extensive facilities and a thriving marine community offering all
manner of yachts for sale or charter. The newly expanded marina
contains numerous yacht service providers and includes brokerage,
hard standing for keeping yachts ashore for sale in Greece,
refurbishment or storage, and is suitably equipped for Blue Water
cruising yachts.
The range of services available has made the Lefkas Marina a key
facility for boat sales, repairs, and refurbishment not just for the
Lefkas and the Ionian, but for Greece as a whole. It is an ideal
transit location for live aboard yachts and many owners utilise
Williams & Smithells yacht brokers in Greece when buying, selling,
or upgrading to a different boat.
The surveying and lift-out capability is ideal for anyone
considering any of the wide range of boats for sale. Williams &
Smithells yacht brokers are located right in the Lefkas Marina
complex, a matter of yards from the yachts and boats berthed nearby
and very close to the new marina hotel - ideal for anyone needing
accommodation whilst visiting Lefkas and the Ionian looking at boats
for sale in Greece.
